- Use the prepositions di or su to express about, as in the following examples:

I read an article about (on) Italian politics. - Use the preposition, di, to express authorship (of a book, opera, play, song, etc.):

The song is by Paul McCarthney. - Use the preposition, di, to express what something is made of. With the preposition, di, without the definite article. Also the preposition, in, can be used (also without the definite article):

I found a gold ring.

Very good examples. As a rule, when should "su" and "di" be used combined, as for example, ... su di te, su di me..?

As grammar goes, the preposition, di, is used after certain prepositions, of which su is one of them, when they are followed by a pronoun.
The other prepositions that require di are: sopra, sotto, su, dopo, dietro, and senza.
